James Taylor is president of The Heartland Institute. Prior to becoming president of Heartland in 2020, he has overseen the Heartland Institute’s energy, climate, and environmental policy work since 2001.  

 

Taylor has presented energy and environment analysis on every major television network in the United States. For many years, he wrote a popular regular column for Forbes magazine and the Forbes website.

 

Taylor co-authored the energy policy plans of Texas Gov. Perry and Louisiana Gov. Jindal when Perry and Jindal ran for President in 2012 and 2016, respectively. Taylor is co-author of the 2022 book, ‘Climate at a Glance for Teachers and Students’, which reached #1 in multiple Amazon.com best-seller categories.

 

Taylor received his bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College where he studied atmospheric science and majored in government. He received his Juris Doctorate from Syracuse University. He is a graduate of Sioux City North, just down the road from Yankton.
